Light painting

Light Paintings

During my second year of graphic design we learned how to do light painting, which I really enjoyed. I experimented with many different shapes, but I focused mainly on creating a standing figure as shown on the right. I ended up making something that looks like a person with horns and an alien robot!

To create this effect, I kept my camera stable at a distance and used a slow shutter speed of about 20 to 30 seconds. I used a light source such as my phone’s flashlight and let my imagination guide me as I moved it around, and turned the light on and off for certain details like the two dots for the eyes.
